Testimony:
The testimony below, from Jim Henry, CHESP, 2004 ASHES Board Member emphasizes the value of certification.
"I have visited with several of the members who have taken the test and become certified and am proud to report many of them have since been offered better paying positions. When I asked them if they felt the certification had anything to do with their success in landing the position, every one of them proudly said yes. I also have taken a position with a new company since my certification and there is no doubt it played a significant part in my getting the job. Beside, if you don't take the growing interest from our Health care Administrator's seriously, some day you may be loosing your job to someone who is certified.
OK, maybe you're not interested in getting a new job offer or making more money (yea...right). Still wouldn't it be nice to prove, not only to yourself but to everyone you deal with professionally, that your profession is as specialized as any other and that you are one of the leading professionals in your field. Once you are certified, you feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in your knowledge and the profession you have chosen. Maybe you're about to retire and you're grooming your replacement to take over. What better way to instill upon them the importance of staying knowledgeable and current with their education. Plus it shows support for our professional association."
