Description

Review of recent developments related to environmental cleaning and disinfection in healthcare facilities. 

Learning outcomes:

  1. To implement effective strategies for monitoring of automated disinfectant dispensers.
  2. To review recent evidence on the impact of interventions to improve cleaning and disinfection of portable equipment.
  3. To understand the advantages and disadvantages of different continuous decontamination technologies.
  4. To be aware of approaches to reduce the risk for transmission of infection from sink drains.

Curtis Donskey, MD

Curtis Donskey, MD, is an Infectious Diseases physician and hospital epidemiologist at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center and a Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. His research focuses primarily on epidemiology and control of healthcare-associated pathogens. His work has been funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
