AHE Presents 2017 Recognition Awards

Orlando, September 18, 2017 - The Association for the Healthcare Environment (AHE), of the American Hospital Association, has announced the recipients of the 2017 Recognition Awards for excellence in caring for the environment, volunteer service, mentorship and environmental sustainability.

Phoenix Award sponsored by Network Services Company: The highest honor bestowed upon an AHE member, the Phoenix was presented to Candace Thompson, CHESP, for her unparalleled service and contributions to the advancement of AHE, for exceptional leadership and for demonstration of quality and excellence in the profession.

ES Department of the Year Sponsored by Tork, an Essity brand: The Environmental Services Department of the Year Award provides national recognition for the significant contributions made by an environmental services department to the overall patient experience and achieving a health care organization's mission. This year recipients were:

  • ES Department of the Year Award: 1-249 beds: St. Joseph’s – North; 250-500 beds: John Peter Smith Hospital
  • ES Department of the Year Certificates of Merit: 1-249 beds: Wentworth – Douglass Hospital
