Trainer Agreement and Ethics Statement
In an effort to minimize risk, AHA and AHE are requiring all trainers to sign an agreement and ethics statement that will protect the integrity and viability of the CHEST program. Following are the primary terms of the agreement: Trainers must purchase all books through AHE and may not purchase books for resale purposes. Trainers cannot contract with organizations outside their health care facility to train others. Trainers cannot sell their training services. Trainers are required to update their CHEST certification records annually.
Designated T-CHEST, T-CSCT, and T-CNACC trainers are not eligible to take the CHEST, CSCT, or CNACC exams. CHEST, CSCT, and CNACC Signature Program exams are not intended for managers, directors, or non-EVS front-line personnel. The EVS technicians trained by designated trainers should be the only participants eligible to take the certification exam.
EVS professionals or supporting partners (e.g. vendors, organization trainers) can become designated T-CHEST, T-CSCT, and T-CNACC trainers only by attending AHE Signature Train-the-Trainer (T3) Programs.
Designated T-CHEST, T-CSCT, and T-CNACC trainers can only train EVS staff within their facility. Supporting industry professionals (e.g. vendors, solution partners) can only train the sales personnel within their organization. They are not eligible to extend the training to any of their clients or customers.
In case of change in employment, the designated T-CHEST, T-CSCT, and T-CNACC trainers can continue their designation but can only train EVS staff within their current organization and only after contacting AHE at ahe@aha.org or submitting a contact update form with updated employment status.
CSCT Certification Renewal Process
Surgical cleaning technicians who have earned their CSCT must submit a renewal form every three (3) years along with a renewal application form. You can confirm your expiration date by reviewing the Current List of CSCT Certificants.
Option One: Continuing Education
Indicate on the Renewal Application Form if you have completed 15 hours of continuing education (including relevant in-service classes) within the past three (3) years. For this renewal cycle only, you do not have to submit a list of your continuing education classes.
Option Two: Successful CSCT Re-examination
Renewal by this option requires re-taking and passing the CSCT Examination no more than one (1) year prior to certification expiration date.
You should first complete a Renewal Application Form and submit it to AHE, along with your payment. After the application is processed, AHE will notify your facility of the test request and they will get in touch with you to schedule the test.

Participants will not show up on your facility's Smartsheet until after they complete the participant form.

After completing the participant form, participants will receive 2 emails. Please be sure to read both carefully and follow the prompts to register their account. These steps are required before a participant can log in.
